| Description: | This position is responsible to manage and lead the Mechanical CAD Design Group. You will supervise mechanical designers during product development, from concept and human factors through to high-volume tooling and manufacturing.
This team of mechanical designers supports approximately 70 engineers and technicians who develop many new products each year. HMG develops specialty audio products including installed sound systems, studio and home-studio recording equipment, guitar effects, and more. We use SolidWorks to design complete electromechanical products, subassemblies and custom components made from sheet metal, cast aluminum, stamping and coining, injection molded plastic and more.
You will also serve as a project leader or key contributor in implementation of state-of-the-art design for manufacture tools, printed circuit mechanical modeling tools, product lifecycle and data management tools, and other efficiency-and quality-enhancing projects. |
| Duties: | • Manages the Mechanical CAD Design Group as direct reports
• Supervises, reviews work product and performance of designers
• Mentors, coaches, develops, trains mechanical designers and mechanical interns
• Develops and implements process improvements and software tools for better efficiency and quality, improve manufacturability and reduce product cost

| Qualifications: | ***Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Advanced SolidWorks expertise highly desired
• PDM Works expertise highly desired
• Experience in electro-mechanical design, sheet metal, injection molded plastics and metal, materials, high-volume manufacturing
• Industrial design and human factors engineering experience is valuable
• Strong communication, organization, leadership skills
• Ability to work in an aggressive, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Self-motivated, energetic, keen attention to detail
• Program/Project management experience helpful
• 6Sigma background helpful
• Continuous improvement and process-oriented
• Minimum 10 years mechanical design experience
• Minimum 3 years management experience |
